IPY - Earth Observations

Greenland in Purple

Credit: Jaxa

Earth observation from space is of particular importance in remote areas like the polar regions. In connection with the International Polar Year the space agencies are making special efforts to improve the datasets from the polar regions. Jaxa, the Japanese space agency, just opened the data portal to their ALOS satellite data. Greenland looks wonderful in purple even though I would have preferred blue...:-)

This is for my friend MBMC for obvious reasons. :-)
